Blow Dry Hair Salon Brings Style To Mount Kisco

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – To Dianna Ettari, the owner of blow dry-only salon Indulgence Blow Dry Lounge in Mount Kisco, styling hair is akin to artistic expression.

The salon, at 69 S. Moger Ave., focuses on blow outs and hair extensions but also offers such services as coloring, highlights, updos, waxing, deep conditioning and specialty hair treatments, including a keratin defrizzing treatment and a cold fusion vegan treatment.

“A lot of people come in once or twice a week for their weekly blow dry,” said Ettari, a Yorktown native. She said the style can last for days if hair is protected during a shower.

The blow dry-only salon trend started in California a few years ago, said Ettari, and migrated to the East Coast, with salons such as Blow and Dry Bar opening in Manhattan.

“And now they seem to be popping up everywhere in Westchester,” said Ettari, naming PlushBLOW in Rye, where she used to work, and Salon Lotus Dry Bar in New Rochelle.

Ettari said she chose to open in Mount Kisco because she has always seen the village as “the heart of Westchester County.”

Before opening the salon in May, Ettari, 27, was going to school for art. But she said she had always had a passion for long, beautiful hair and loved using hair extensions and products.

“I took a timeout to go do hair and got sucked into the business, and realized that [hair styling] is just another aspect of art,” she said. Hairstylists use color, shape and style to take “what you create out of a basic haircut and turn it into something that’s out of this world.”

At a regular salon, hair extensions usually cost $8 to $10 per strand, which can easily add up to $1,000, Ettari said, depending on the length the customer wants. Indulgence charges $6 or $7 per strand, and the treatment lasts four to five months, Ettari said.

Ettari also does extensions for older women who are experiencing female pattern baldness and hair thinning, a common problem, she said.
