Mount Kisco Builder Wins Award For Work In Rebuilding Chappaqua Home

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Patrick Morrissey feels like his Mount Kisco residential contracting business has won two Oscars in four years. With the number of quality of homebuilders and remodelers in the Hudson Valley, the long-time builder’s pride in his team is justifiable.

P. Morrissey Contracting won the 2015 Pinnacle Award for Best Custom Home 6,500 square feet and over from the Hudson Valley Builders and Remodelers Association. Morrissey’s team earned the honor for its work in restoring a Chappaqua home that burned to the ground in a 2013 fire.

The new home includes energy efficient construction, Geo Thermal heat and smart house systems. Morrissey’s team took nearly a year to rebuild the house while the family lived in a variety of places before moving back to their home.

“The family got exactly what they wanted out of the house,’’ said Morrissey, who started the business in 1983. “They ran out of the house when it was burning down. Most people would say I don’t want to move back into this house. They love this house. It has been tailored to their lifestyle.”

Morrissey’s team collaborated with Mary Scott, AIA, and interior designer Martin Heinz in rebuilding the home.

“For our employees, it’s just awesome because they don’t get a lot of recognition,’’ Morrissey said. “Here in the Hudson Valley there are a lot of custom homes and a lot of terrific custom home builders. To win it two times is amazing, especially in this category. We feel very fortunate.”
