MOUNT KISCO. N.Y. ? Some 150 tables blanketed the downtown shopping district Saturday and Sunday for Mount Kisco's biggest Sidewalk Sales Days event ever.
The Chamber of Commerce hosted the latest go-round of the annual shopping bonanza, which features hundreds of local merchants offering once-a-year deals at tables and tents arranged along South Moger Avenue and Shopper's Park.
While the sale did not officially close Saturday due to stormy weather, windy conditions and a tornado watch, it was not easy to carry off.
"Saturday was a rough day," said Chereese Jervis-Hill, president of events planning company Events To Remember, which collaborated with the chamber for the second time this year. "But we stuck it out," she said, and Sunday turned out to be beautiful.
Vendor tents for local businesses and organizations included: Epidavros Day Spa, Jodi's Gym, Lalibela Ethiopian Cuisine, The Care of Trees, Antalek & Moore Insurance Agency, WeeZee World, Kaleidoscope Childcare Center, Great Clips, Massage Envy, the Mount Kisco Historical Society, Westchester Dance Academy, Skinny Buddha, Temple Sharaay Tefila, Right Click Solutions and Neighbors Link.
Mount Kisco Village Manager Jim Palmer was in attendance Sunday with his wife, Xann, and their twin girls Siena and Zoe, 3½, who were having fun seeing the sights and pushing along their tiny shopping carts. Next, he said, they were off to the Mount Kisco Lions Club Kiddie Train, a miniature working train that shuttled kids around the action.
Families also enjoyed music and dance performances, carnival rides, a variety of food vendors, and dog, cat and rabbit adoptions presented by no-kill shelter Pets Alive. Two new events were added this year: an all-ages talent contest with cash prizes and an art show on the library lawn hosted by the Friends of the Mount Kisco Library.
