Dozens of residents joined American Legion, town and county officials to pay their respect to local veterans, who also were in attendance. Mount Kisco Mayor Michael Cindrich said it was important to remember those who defend the United States not just today, but everyday.

“We must remember in honor and patriotism who have fought and currently fight under our flag,” he said.

“One thing that has resonated with me throughout my lifetime is that the world is a dangerous place. So it is important to give our service men and women your loyalty – they cherish your support,” he added.

Assemblyman David Buchwald (D-Westchester) echoed Cindrich’s sentiment.

“As we take the time to remember, we recognize that this is not just a day for veterans, but a day for all Americans,” he said. “I commend all of you to express your gratitude.”
