The 1st Annual Harbor Island International Beer Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 from noon to 5 p.m. at Harbor Island Park with more than 150 domestic and internationally renowned breweries from around the world along with a mixture of local artisans, live entertainment (four bands), 20 local and regional food vendors and scenic views of the harbor and Long Island Sound.

Several breweries, both small and large, have begun creating a special brew just for this event. Among those in attendance: Dogfish, Founders, Brooklyn, Left Hand, Captain Lawrence, Orval, Pinkus, Harviestoun and Tiger. Presentations and seminars will be led by some of the industry’s best known in the field of brewing, home brewing, growing hops and pairing beer with food and desert.

What makes this festival different from others, according to Jason Daniels, Half Time's chief operating officer, is that it spans the globe, from Elmsford to England, Ithaca to Italy. “Most beer festivals concentrate on domestic micro-brews, and though we’ll have a host of local, regional and national breweries at our event, we’ll also be complimenting that nicely with many of the best international brands in the world," he says.

"In a nutshell, the world’s largest beer store – our Hoyt Avenue location is 20,000 square feet, all devoted to beer – is hosting the world’s largest international beer festival…right here in Mamaroneck."

Tickets start at $65 for general admission (though there is a $20 "Designated Driver" option); up to $140 for VIP privileges. Go here for more information and tickets. The event will be held rain or shine.
