At the rescue group's "My Furry Valentine" adoption event this weekend, dogs, cats and rabbits will temporarily take over the former Purple Passage storefront at 41 South Moger Ave. in Mount Kisco, behind Churchills clothing store, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The privately funded Pets Alive asked landlords Sebastian and Steve Giner to donate their storefront for the two-day event.
"We are glad to be partnering with [Churchills] once again and looking forward to another successful event," said Taylor.
Pets Alive, which has locations in Elmsford and Middletown, N.Y., and Puerto Rico, reports saving more than 3,500 animals in 2012, and the group hopes to surpass that number in 2013.
The group, one of the country's oldest and largest no-kill shelters, has made it their mission to improve the lives of companion animals via rescue, adoption, advocacy, collaboration, intervention and education.
Daniele Churchill, owner of Churchills of Mount Kisco and longtime supporter of Pets Alive, will sponsor the organization Feb. 9 and 10.
“Daniele sponsored our participation in September’s Mount Kisco Sales Days, which resulted in a record-breaking 60 animals finding their forever homes in just one weekend," said Pets Alive Westchester Executive Director Jenessa Taylor.
On the first Saturday during Mount Kisco's 2012 Sidewalk Sales Days, community members adopted 22 dogs and five cats, setting a record for adoptions in a single day. That weekend's event also brought Matchbox 20 singer and Bedford resident Rob Thomas, who sits on the organizations' board of directors along with his wife, Marisol.
