The tournament is in memory of Erin O’Connor and will raise money for Friends of Karen, an organization that supports critically ill children and their families. Erin O’Connor, who died of a brain tumor in 1999 at the age of 13, was the daughter of Michael O’Connor, an associate broker with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

“The sales associates and employees of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage put a lot of time and effort into organizing this golf tournament each year because they know that Friends of Karen provides critical support to families and children who are struggling with cancer and other serious illnesses,” said Cathleen F. Smith, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y. “We are proud of Michael for spearheading this tournament, and we are pleased to once again step up and join with other real estate professionals in the community for this very worthy cause.”

The tournament is a scramble format with 18 holes of golf (with cart). There will be tournament prizes, raffles, an auction and dinner. The tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. with player welcome and registration, followed by lunch and the shotgun tournament start at 12:30 p.m. Registration, which includes dinner, is $250 per golfer. Tickets for dinner and networking only are available for $75.

“I can’t tell you how appreciative I am for all of our generous sponsors and to all the people in the community who make this tournament happen each year. We are grateful that we are able to raise money for Friends of Karen, which needs donations to continue to do the important work of helping families with children who are undergoing treatment,” said O’Connor.

The mission of Friends of Karen is to provide emotional, financial and advocacy support for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, in order to help keep them stable, functioning and able to cope. Since Friends of Karen was founded in 1978, the organization has served more than 10,000 children and their families.

Registration and sponsorship opportunities can be accessed online or by contacting Michael O’Connor at 552-5143 or M1oconnor@aol.com.
