A veritable plant lover’s delight, the 58-acre estate is replete with extensive collections of Japanese maples, conifers, cypripediums, camellias, dahlias, alpines, ferns and rare woodland plants, all artfully composed within various gardens throughout the property.

The garden combines the diversity of the plant kingdom with the Steinhardt’s whimsical nature and incorporates unique bridges (including a rope and a moss bridge), a “stick house” and secret paths that lure visitors from one magical moment to the next.

There are orchards, a perennial garden, a vegetable garden, an ornamental grass garden and an experimental garden that tests a plant’s mettle before it can debut in the rich and wondrous landscape. Trees and plants are labeled throughout the garden.

Please note that due to rough terrain and unpaved paths, this garden is not handicapped accessible.

Directions and hours are available by calling 1-888-842-2442 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Admission: $10 per person; children 12 and under free.
