What To Do Around Croton This Week

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A hearing on Indian Point's license renewal, a sky watch for migrating birds and an appearance by author Elizabeth Norris are among events this week around Cortlandt and Croton. Check out our Events page for even more things to do.

Monday, Oct. 15

Indian Point Hearing: Noon. The public may attend this hearing of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board regarding the license renewal of the Indian Point nuclear power plants. The hearing is in the style of court proceedings. Doubletree Hotel Tarrytown, 455 S. Broadway, Tarrytown.

Croton Board of Trustees: 8 p.m. The Croton Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting and will take legislative action. A portion of the meeting will be dedicated to public comment. Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton-on-Hudson.

Cortlandt Town Board Work Session: 7 p.m. The Cortlandt Town Board will hold a work session to discuss events in the town. There will not be an opportunity for public comment. Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

Going South: 8 a.m. Teatown Lake Reservation's Charlie Roberto will be at Croton Point Park Nature Center searching the sky for migrating birds. Meet in the main parking lot of Croton Point Park, by the Nature Center. This program is free.

Cortlandt Town Board Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The Cortlandt Town Board will hold a regular meeting, and will take legislative action. A portion of the meeting will be dedicated to public comment. Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Wednesday, Oct. 17

Book and a Blanket: 6:30 p.m. Yarn will be provided to knitters and crocheters to make hand-stitched blankets, which will then be donated to newborn babies at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center. Hendrick Hudson Free Library, 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.  

Cortlandt Zoning Board of Appeals: 7 p.m. The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet to discuss zoning matters in the Town of Cortlandt. Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Croton Zoning Board of Appeals: 8 p.m. The Zoning Board of Appeals  meets to discuss zoning matters in the Village of Croton. Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton-on-Hudson.

Thursday, Oct. 18

Croton-Harmon Board of Education Work Session: 7:30 p.m. This Board of Education meeting discusses current issues, but does not include a portion for public comment. Community Room of Croton-Harmon High School, 36 Old Post Road S., Croton-on-Hudson.

Teen Read Week Event: 6:30 p.m. Elizabeth Norris, author of "Unraveling," will visit the Hendrick Hudson Free Library. The first 20 teens to register will receive a copy of the action-romance thriller. Call the Hendrick Hudson Free Library at 914-739-5654, or visit the library at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Matinee Movie: 1:30 p.m. "Bernie" (PG13), a macabre comedy starring Jack Black, will play at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library, 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose. This event is free.
