The event, which runs from 4-7 p.m. May 6 and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 7, offers many hard-to-find and unique varieties of plants. But what sets the Teatown event apart from others is the staff and volunteers, including some master gardeners, who can offer advice on how to choose the best location for your garden, which plants to use and combine, how to care for the plants and create a show-stopping display.

Events include a Wine, Craft Beer & Small Plates event by Peter Pratt's Inn ($10 admission), vendors and Wildflower Island tours.

Wildflower Island is a woodland garden of over 200 species of native plants. Rare lady’s-slipper orchids nestle among the abundant spring ephemerals. Magnificent bolder displays of moisture loving lobelia, marsh-mallow, lizard tail and New York Ironweed flower in late summer, while the woods sparkle with tall meadow-rue, cohosh, and baneberry. A fern trail of over 30 varieties of native ferns and garlands of endangered club moss and wintergreen carpet Wildflower Island all season. Experienced volunteers guide visitors along narrow paths.

The tours will take place at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Reservations are required by calling 914-762-2912 by May 5.

Plants for sale will include perennials, bee and butterfly attractors, annuals and hanging baskets, native plants and deer-resistant plants, Gilbertie's herb collections and vegetable plants

Parking will be in Teatown’s new lot across the street from the nature center. Handicapped parking is available in front of the nature center building. For information, call Teatown at 914-762-2912, ext. 110.

Teatown is also calling all volunteers knowledgeable about annuals, perennials and native plants to help at PlantFest. Contact Teatown's volunteer coordinator at volunteer@teatown.org.

Teatown is located in the greater Ossining area. It has an Ossining mailing address but its land is spread across the towns of Yorktown, New Castle and Cortlandt.
