Three Teens Shot Outside Caver Vocational Technical High School In Baltimore: Police

Three teenagers were hospitalized on Friday morning when a shooting broke out outside Carver Vocation Technical High School in West Baltimore.

Acting Baltimore Deputy Commissioner Kevin Jones confirmed that at around 7:50 a.m. on Friday morning, there was a shooting on the corner of Presstman Street and North Bentalou Street, possibly after a fight broke out. 

Within minutes, officers arrived at the school to provide first aid to two 16-year-old students and a third 17-year-old who was walking in the area and was struck by a bullet.

Jones said that one of the teens was shot in the chest and hip, while the other was grazed. The injuries sustained by the third person were unclear later on Friday morning. They're all being treated at University Hospital.

None of the wounds are considered life-threatening, accoridng to police.

Following the shooting, Carver High School was put into a lockdown as police investigated in the area. The acting deputy chief added that the families of the students who were injured have already been notified, and all other students are safe.

Students were scheduled to be dismissed from the school at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, the district posted on X.

Some elected officials in the city also took to social media following the shooting.

"No resident in any corner of our city should feel unsafe going to school in the morning," Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby said in a statement.

The shooting suspect was described by Jones only as a Black man who fled eastbound on Presstman Street. No additional information was provided.
