MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Judith Simon, executive director of Mount Kisco's A&J Home Care Inc. and founder of the Center for Creative Movement, will be officially recognized as the 2013 Citizen of the Year at the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce’s 46th Annual Dinner Dance.
The event will be on Wednesday, May 8, at the Holiday Inn of Mount Kisco. The celebration will start with wine and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and presentations starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $135 per person. A limited number of group tables are available.
Simon serves the Mount Kisco community on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce, the Library Foundation and the Zoning Board, and is the incoming president of the Mount Kisco Rotary Club.
With her dance teacher Andrey Savenko of the Fred Astaire studio in Bedford Hills, Simon is working on a long-held dream that shows how ballroom dancing helps stop the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. They have received the support of the Alzheimer’s Association and the National Dance Council of America in their work.
The Chamber of Commerce will also honor the Mount Kisco Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Council as the 2013 Outstanding Non-Profit Organization of the Year. The council was cited for its accomplishments in three groundbreaking programs: establishing a "Drug Court" program, a Latino Providers Group, and an Emergency Shelter Partnership.
“Both Judith Simon and the Mount Kisco Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Council serve as positive examples for action in our community,” said Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kathleen Mooney.
“The chamber is delighted to honor them for their outstanding volunteerism and community spirit."
