MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. — Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco will hold its annual benefit with the theme “Close to Heart & Home” on Saturday at Old Salem Farm, 190 June Road, North Salem.
This year’s physician honoree is Dr. James Catanese, attending cardiologist at the hospital, who served as its medical staff president and a trustee from 2005-11.
William Sarnoff, who has served on the hospital's board of trustees since 2011, is this year’s community honoree.
The benefit co-chairs are Heather and Kristoffer Durst, and Pamela and David Small. All proceeds from the benefit will fund patient-centered care.
Catanese, of Lewisboro, will be honored for his dedication over the past 21 years to treating patients at the hospital with a patient-centered focus, caring for each patient uniquely and empowering patients to be active participants in their care.
“Northern Westchester Hospital is a highly respected institution, and being honored at this year’s benefit is so thrilling. I am very grateful.” said Catanese. “I deeply believe in the hospital’s mission of delivering patient-centered care, which is what drew me here in 1994. I will share this honor with my patients, because it is really about them, not me.”
Sarnoff, of Bedford, a longtime advocate for a patient-centered, integrative approach to health care will be honored for his generosity in both the time and energy he dedicates to the hospital.
“The hospital does a superb job concentrating on the patient first. I’m so impressed by their emphasis on the prevention of illness and the promotion of health,” said Sarnoff.
“I’m impressed by the way the hospital strives to care for the patient as a whole – the mind, body, and soul. It’s a mission I support and I’m grateful to have such a high-quality healthcare institution in my backyard,” said Heather Durst, whose husband and son were born at the hospital.
Close to Heart & Home will take place at Old Salem Farm, and the menu will be provided by Abigail Kirsch Catering. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 8 p.m.
