Talk Focuses On Mount Kisco's Eye Glasses Manufacturing History

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – The Mount Kisco Public Library is hosting a presentation, “Mount Kisco: The Largest Eyeglass Manufacturer in the U.S.” Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Listen to the story of the Spencer Optical Manufacturing company that built its factory in Mount Kisco (then Kirbyville) in 1874. While in Mount Kisco, it was the largest maker of optical goods in the country.

The presentation will discuss the company's baseball team, the Crescents, and will include stories about the company’s band, including one personal story from the great-grandchild of a band member and employee .

The Mount Kisco Library is at 100 Main St.
