On Wednesday, August 22nd, Katonah Village Library will be honoring the creative genius of author Ray Bradbury with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. and a showing of the movie Fahrenheit 451 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Bradbury, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 91, described himself a man of ideas He leaves a legacy of classic science fiction literature, including the book Fahrenheit 451. This 1966 movie was directed by Francois Truffaut, and starred Oskar Werner and Julie Christie. Bob Bloom, the Journal and Courier, considered this movie to be “[a] keen adaptation of Ray Bradbury's novel by Truffaut; eerie in its simplicity and matter-of-factness about book burning and Big Brotherism.” Sci-Fi fans, and people new to the science fiction genre, can gather at the dinner and discuss the author. This event will launch the new Sci-Fi Book Club at the Katonah Village Library. Anyone who wishes to participate in the potluck dinner, please contact call 914-232-3508 or email katref@wlsmail.org.
