What To Do Around Mount Kisco This Weekend

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. —A free spaghetti dinner, a Belgian-inspired bike ride and a blessing of the animals ceremony are among the events around Mount Kisco this weekend.

Friday, Oct. 12

Cancer Risk in the Jewish Population: Is It In Our Genes?: 7:30 p.m. Dr. Susan Klugman of the Program for Jewish Genetic Health at Yeshiva University will discuss familial cancer risks in the Ashkenazi Jewish community that may require specialized treatment plans. Temple Sharaay Tefila, 89 Baldwin Road, Bedford Corners.

American Legion Free Spaghetti Dinner: 5:30 p.m. The dinner is free and open to the public. American Legion, 1 Legion Way, Mount Kisco.

Saturday, Oct. 13

Puppy Playgroup: 10 a.m. Dog owners can take their puppy to Canine Kindergarten for an hour-long puppy socialization session. This trainer-moderated session lets puppies play and socialize with each other and humans. This group is for puppies less than 6 months old. Canine Kindergarten at The Park, 333 N. Bedford Road, Mount Kisco.

Pumpkin Patch Continues: 10 a.m. Now in its eleventh year, the United Methodisat Church of Mount Kisco's pumpkin patch is open Sunday through Friday from noon to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. A fund-raiser for the ministry and missions of the church, the pumpkin patch is a favorite communitywide event. Sunday, Oct. 14

Bicycle World's Annual Ridley Bike Ride: 9 a.m. More than 75 cyclists will participate in Bicycle World's annual Ridley Bike Ride. The 30-mile ride is open to owners of Ridley Belgian bicycles. The ride will traverse Belgian-inspired roads with Belgian refreshments after the ride and a cafe stop in Croton halfway through. Bicycle World, 7 E. Main St., Mount Kisco.

Blessing of the Animals: 10:15 a.m. Pets and their owners will gather in the pumpkin patch on the church’s front lawn for a ceremony featuring music by music director Darron McNutt and the church choir and a sermon by the pastor, the Rev. Karen Burger. The pastor will bless each pet, including children's stuffed animals or photos of deceased pets. United Methodist Church of Mount Kisco, 300 E Main St., Mount Kisco.
