What To Do In The Mount Kisco Area This Weekend

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – A Grateful Dead cover band show, a wine tasting and auction benefit for Richmond Community Services and a reception for an art show of works from local high-schoolers are among the events happening in the Mount Kisco area this weekend.

The 30th Young Artists exhibition opens this weekend at the Katonah Museum of Art. The show features work from more than 300 high school seniors from Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess and Fairfield counties.

Friday, Feb. 1 "Art Within Nature" Photography Show: 11 a.m. This solo photography show by Westchester resident Robert Uricchio will fill the Mount Kisco Public Library's art gallery during the month of February. The show features 30-40 images on display, many of which were taken in the Hudson Valley area. Mount Kisco Public Library, 100 E. Main St., Mount Kisco.

"Not DEAD Yet": Playing the Music of the Grateful Dead: 9 p.m. The cover charge for this cover band show is $5. MTK Tavern. 30 E. Main St., Mount Kisco.

Saturday, Feb. 2 2nd Annual Mike Chace Memorial Hike: 2 p.m. Join Westmoreland Director Steve Ricker for this free hike that celebrates the life and legacy of Mike Chace, long-time member and board president of Westmoreland Sanctuary. Dress for the weather conditions. All ages welcome. RSVP by Friday. Westmoreland Sanctuary, 260 Chestnut Ridge Road, Mount Kisco.

Richmond Community Services: A Unique Wine Tasting & Auction Event: 7 p.m. Join friends and staff for an evening of food, fun and wine at Richmond Community Services' wine tasting and auction and take advantage of this opportunity to support Richmond's mission of improving the lives of the developmentally disabled. Admission is $125. Holiday Inn Mount Kisco, 1 Holiday Inn Drive, Mount Kisco.

Sunday, Feb. 3

Adopt a Sugar Maple: 10:30 a.m. Families, groups and individuals are welcome to adopt one of Westmoreland’s sugar maple trees for the sugaring season and learn first hand how to produce syrup from maple sap. Participants should plan to attend a series of programs today and March 3 and during Sugarfest 2013. Each family will receive free admission to SugarFest March 9-10 and one bottle of maple syrup made from Westmoreland’s maple trees. Cost for members is $60. Limit is one tree per family. Westmoreland Sanctuary, 260 Chestnut Ridge Road, Mount Kisco.

Young Artist 2013 Opening Reception: 3 p.m. Celebrating its 30th year, the eight-day young artists exhibition showcases the talents of more than 300 high school seniors from Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess and Fairfield counties.
