What To Do In Mount Kisco This Weekend

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. — A Christmas tree lighting, a dance fundraiser for cancer and a benefit for Hurricane Sandy victims are among the events happening around Mount Kisco this weekend.

Friday, Nov. 30

Kids Pajama Party and Donation Drive: 6 p.m. "Help Share the Warmth" by donating a pair of new pajamas for ages infants through teens. Kids ages 5-12 can enjoy pizza, games and prizes. Admission is $20 or free with a donation to benefit the Community Center of Westchester for families in need. Westchester MMA Fit, 333 N. Bedford Road, Mount Kisco.

Dancing for Our Stars: 8 p.m. Watch dance competitions and exhibitions by the pros and dance the night away at this special fundraiser for the Children's Cancer Fun. Fee is $25 to attend. Westchester Ballroom, 136 Radio CIrcle Drive, Mount KIsco.

Mount Kisco Tree Lighting Ceremony : 6 p.m. Mount Kisco's Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, supported by the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce, will be Friday. After the ceremony, everyone is invited to walk to the American Legion to visit with Santa. Cookies and cocoa will be served. Village Hall, 104 E. Main St., Mount Kisco.

Saturday, Dec. 1

Sand Candles: 11 a.m. Come create decorative sand candles. Make a mold out of sand to create a unique candle design,  add items from nature, such as shells and beach glass, pour in the wax and wait for it to cool. This activity is suitable for ages 7 to adult. Westmoreland Sanctuary, 260 Chestmut Ridge Road, Mount Kisco.

Katonah Studio Jazz Band at Via Vanti! 9 p.m. The Katonah Studio Jazz Band returns to Mount Kisco with its own brand of smokin’, hard-driving jazz. Founded in 2005 by Grammy-award winning composer, audio producer and pianist Robert Kessler and saxophonist R.J. Marx, the band is a collective musical ensemble featuring some of northern Westchester’s top players. The group pays respectful homage to classic jazz masters Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Stan Getz and Bill Evans Via Vanti!, 2 Kirby Plaza, Mount Kisco.

Sunday, Dec. 2

Hurricane Sandy S.O.S. Benefit Concert: 5 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by local Rotary and the Lions clubs, including the Bedford-Armonk Rotary Club, the S.O.S. Spirit of Salvation benefit concert will feature performances by Westchester's finest talent, as well as drinks, a buffet dinner and a silent auction. Musicians include Sandy Farina (co-star of the movie "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"), John DiGuillio,, Charlie Lagond, Lisa Ratner (composer of hits for Barbara Streisand), the winners of the Westchester Idol and Yonkers Idol, an Elvis impersonator and more. Proceeds will be split among the Staten Island Rotary Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, Stephen Siller Tunnel to the Towers Foundation Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund and Habitat for Humanity.
