What's Happening Around Mt. Kisco This Weekend

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.—An end-of-summer barbecue, a health fair and a women's safety seminar are among the events happening around Mount Kisco this weekend.

Friday, Aug. 24

End-of-Summer Barbecue at Westchester Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness : 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Let the kids loose for two hours to enjoy a barbecue, games and a raffle at this end-of-summer party appropriate for kids ages 5 to 12. Cost is $20 per child. Westchester Mixed Martial Arts, 333 N Bedford Road, Mount Kisco.

Saturday, Aug. 25

Kids' Hike : 10 a.m. Kids of all ages are invited on this three-quarter-mile long hike to explore what is happening in the summer forest. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Suggested donation is $5 each for non-members. Westmoreland Sanctuary, 265 Chestnut Ridge Road, Mount Kisco.

Join WHUD's Tom Furci at Sleepy's: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Come to Sleepy's the Mattress Professionals on Saturday and meet 100.7 WHUD's Tom Furci. He will be bringing the prize wheel so come by to spin and win. Sleepy's, 15 South Moger Ave., Mount Kisco.

Mount Kisco Health and Community Fair at St. Francis AME : 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The two church lots will be filled with activities and health stations where attendees can get their blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar level checked and receive a printout with information for their next doctor's visit. Vendors will be selling baked goods, specialty foods, cosmetics, jewelry and pocketbooks. Saint Francis AME Zion Church, 3 Hillside Ave., Mount Kisco.

Sunday, Aug. 26

Free Women's Safety Seminar : 2 p.m. MMA fighter Larry Brynes will teach women the necessary skills and knowledge they need to defend themselves in this free seminar open to ages 15 and older.
