Yorktown Street Festival Celebrates Seven Years

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The Seventh Annual Yorktown Festival and Street Fair takes place Sunday, Oct. 11 in downtown Yorktown.

Commerce Street and Veterans Road will host rides, attractions, live music, food and more than 250 exhibitors for Yorktown residents from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

New models of motorcycles will be on display courtesy of Hudson Valley Motorcycles. 

The Yorktown Fire House will entertain and educate crowds with live fire safety demonstrations.

Yorktown's Gabrielle Sanson will kick off the festival main stage at the Openng Ceremony. Other live entertainment includes open mic talents coordinated by Bob Hill from Mohansic Grill and Lounge’s Open Mic Night, "The Ice Queen" by Dance for Joy, the Kurt and Helen Band, On My Toes Dance Academy and the Old Mill Singers.

Attendees can enter their dogs into the Dog Costume Contest and Parade at 2 p.m. The winner will be announced at the main stage at 4 p.m. The event will also feature dog-friendly activities such as K9 Nose Work, Teaching the Basics, Walking with Your Friend Tips and Techniques and more. 

The event will feature a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Red Cross inside the Yorktown Community Cultural Center. 

New for 2015 is the 1st Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest at 12:30 p.m. Register online at www.yorktownfestival.com.

Local seniors can enjoy the complimentary Senior Luncheon at the Yorktown Community Cultural Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
