One of this fall’s hottest looks takes its cue from a bygone era of mile high style. Stewardess chic is inescapable this season. From ABC’s much-anticipated prime time series, Pan Am, to the new Virgin Atlantic commercials, the 60’s buttoned-up sex appeal is all over the runway.
It’s a throwback style that’s easy to get carried away with. Highly tailored pieces are the stamp on your passport to autumn style, and retro bags transfer effortlessly from daytime carry-all to weekend getaway.
Erica Anderson of New York’s style-casting firm Ann Magnin notes, “The jet-set look translates into great-looking satchels, slim skirts, fitted jackets and all sorts of ladylike accessories including gloves and high-heeled pumps.”
If you want to try this look on for size, but think you might need to book a connection, start with slim silhouettes and skinny belts. These are a simple way to stay on trend without looking like you should be pushing a beverage cart. And all you need to add a little altitude to your wardrobe is a great pair of pumps.
Buckle up!
