Now, the Larchmont resident is asking for a little help herself.

The longtime women's magazine editor -- she oversaw editorial for More, Redbook, and Marie Claire for many years -- is working to raise money on ifundwomen.com for CoveyClub, a membership supported online-offline experience that connects women around the world, helping them to live their most authentic lives.

This will be done through small intimate events, nationwide salons, and through an interactive newsletter written and produced by leading journalists -- the same award-winning editors, writers, and photographers Seymour has long worked with.

"CoveyClub was born when More magazine closed and readers came across my social media and asked me to do something else for them that was similar," she said.

"The readers still wanted the magazine: it was just that there were not enough advertisers in print to keep it afloat.

"CoveyClub is going to be reader supported—with some ads and some sponsors—which will make it more sustainable. That is also why it is a club and not a newsletter. We will be doing a lot of activities together."

So far, Seymour has been funding the project from her own pocket which she's loved because it's given her huge amounts of flexibility. The next step, however, is to prove there's an audience so she can get seed funding and investment.

She chose the ifundwomen campaign because it's a platform for women-only businesses.

"It is trying to right the problem that is endemic today: only seven percent of projects run by women get funded," explained Seymour.

Her beta launch is June 1 and she has 93 testers from various walks of life among her audience. So far, she has a  sign-up list of 4,500 and has not gone public yet.

Her goal is to raise $25,000.

Seymour said just giving $20 is helpful as what counts in her presentations to funders is the number of funders.

As for the name Covey, Seymour said it refers to a small group of birds—preferably quail. "I like the idea of small—when everything today is massive. I want to be intimate and make sure women really connect over this project and meet each other and make new friends.

"I also want to be more like HBO on the web: smaller, smarter, more sophisticated content but consumer supported."
