MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- With temperatures reaching the mid-90s this week, it is important for adults to make sure children are staying safe while enjoying the heat.

According to Dr. Peter Richel,Chief of Pediatrics at Northern Westchester Hospital, applying high-blocking SPF and drinking plenty of water are important to avoid sunburn and dehydration.

Ticks are also one of the most dangerous parts of summer, but often overlooked or forgotten. A simple pair of high socks can mean the difference between being bit or not, he cautions.
