The foundation was created in memory of Tina Brozman, a former U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge who succumbed to the illness. Her husband, Andrew Brozman has lived in Chappaqua for nearly 30 years. The honor is called the Global Women's Health Award.

Andrew Brozman, who noted that there are "two strong links" between their groups, cited work that the Clinton Foundation has done for the betterment of women's health globally and the fact that it operates on collaboration.

Andrew Brozman, who serves on the board of Tina's Wish, said that his organization formed a consortium of research institutions. The intent behind collaborating, Brozman said, is because this allows for work to proceed more rapidly and effectively.

A mutual acquaintance got the group in touch with members of Clinton's staff, Andrew Brozman recalled.

Speaking about his group's objective, Andrew Brozman said that ovarian cancer is usually not detected until women are in the late stage of it. He also said that doctors do not recognize the symptoms, which could be confused with having something else, as being linked to ovarian cancer. In the case of his wife, Andrew Brozman recalled that initially she went to multiple doctors over months and was not correctly diagnosed.

Andrew Brozman also discussed the success that his group has had. For example, a dinner held last September resulted in roughly $1.3 million being raised.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
