Conway, 80, Ex-Mount Kisco Chamber Director, Dies

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – Joseph William Lawrence Conway of Somers died May 1 at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco. He was 80. 

Conway was retired as the director of special recreation from the Westchester County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. After retirement, he served as executive director of the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce.

He was born Feb. 4, 1932 in Bronxville to Joseph L. and Florence Wright Conway. A U.S. Army veteran, Conway served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion. A graduate of Cortland State College, he was active in numerous professional organizations and charities and was a member of St. Joseph's Church. 

He is survived by his wife Jeannette Kozumbo Conway; two daughters, Margaret Conway and Elizabeth Mazzola; a brother, William Conway; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Katherine Bannon Shearman; and a brother, Gerald Conway. 

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church in Croton Falls. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury, Conn.
