Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s book, "Framed: Why Michael Skakel Spent Over a Decade in Prison For a Murder He Didn’t Commit,'' was published yesterday.

Kennedy, who was a longtime area resident before selling his Bedford residence in 2013 and who is the son of former U.S. Attorney General and New York Sen. Robert Kennedy, claims Skakel was "railroaded amidst a media frenzy by the devious actions of a crooked cop, a trio of mendacious writers, a treacherous family lawyer nursing a secret grudge, a narcissistic defense attorney obsessed by the spotlight, a craven prosecutor gone rogue, and a parade of perjuring witnesses,'' according to a description of the book on Amazon.com.

Moxley, 15, was was last seen alive spending time at the home of the Skakel family, across the street from her home in Belle Haven. Michael Skakel, also was convicted in 2002 of murdering Moxley and sentenced to 20 years to life. In 2013, he was granted a new trial by a Connecticut judge and released on $1.2 million bail. The decision is now being appealed by the prosecution.

Skakel is the nephew of Ethel Skakel Kennedy, the widow of the former Senator. The Kennedy connection has heightened interest in the case. Her body was in her family's backyard, and an autopsy found she had been bludgeoned and stabbed with a golf club that was traced back to the Skakel home.

The Amazon description claims Kennedy Jr. solves the case and finds the likely killers. "Kennedy, with meticulous research and reporting, proves that Michael Skakel did not and could not have murdered Martha Moxley,'' according to the book. The description also says "Kennedy also shows how he tracked down the likely killers, a pair of ghosts who moved in and out of Greenwich and whose presence was detected by neither police nor press during 30 years of costly yet shoddy investigation. Today, those men walk free."

Kennedy has written five books. He has long proclaimed Skakel's innocence, even publishing a magazine story in 2003 in The Atlantic Monthly.

Since 1987 Kennedy has served as a clinical professor of Environmental Law and co-director of the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic at Pace University School of Law, according to Wikipedia.
