OSSINING, N.Y. -- Teatown Lake Reservation in Ossining celebrated its 50th anniversary with a fund-raiser at Sleepy Hollow Country Club on Sept. 22.
The program began with a film that celebrated Teatown’s history and recognized all 18 of its past presidents and chairs that were honored that evening.
Teatown was founded in 1963 on 194 acres of property. Since then it has grown to a 1,000-acre nature preserve that serves 20,000 adults and children every year.
The benefit raised more than $325,000 to support Teatown’s environmental education programs.
“The energy in the room was palpable due to the 50th celebration and the honorees that came from near and far to reflect and remember," Teatown Executive Director Kevin Carter said in a statement. "We are so grateful to our many friends in the community who came out to support us.”
Teatown Lake Reservation is at 1600 Spring Valley Road in Ossining.
