Jesse Nager, who has starred in multiple shows, including "Mary Poppins," "Mamma Mia," "Scandalous," and "Xanadu," has played Robinson on Broadway and in theaters across the country.

Nager first became interested in theater as a student at LaGuardia High School in Manhattan, according to a statement from his publicist. After graduating from the Michigan School of Music, Theater and Dance in 2003, he moved to New York, where the following year made his musical debut in "Mamma Mia."

In addition to the shows in which he's performed, he's also participated in numerous workshops for various musicals and performed with such stars as Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, Jason Mraz, Debbie Gibson and Patti LaBelle, according to the statement.

Nager also is creator and artistic director of "The Broadway Boys," a musical show that completed more than 80 performances across the United States and Europe in 2015.

"Motown: The Musical" will be heavily represented at this year's NAACP Theater Awards on Nov. 21; the show has been nominated for 11 awards.
