Accidents Slow Down Motorists On Busy Sunday For Travel

Several accidents throughout the area are slowing motorists on one of the busiest Sundays for travel all year.

A chain-reaction accident with injuries involving as many as 15 vehicles is causing gridlock conditions on a stretch of I-95.

The accident, in Rye, was reported around 4 p.m. at Boston Post Road (Exit 20), creating stop-and-go traffic after Exit 17.

In Rockland, a 4:25 p.m. accident was reported on northbound I-87 between Exit 11 (Nyack, Route 9W) and Exit 12 (West Nyack, Route 303).

Also in Rockland, a serious, five-vehicle accident was reported at 5:30 p.m. in Spring Valley on the northbound New York State Thruway at Exit 14A (Garden State Parkway connector).

A disabled vehicle on eastbound approaching Exit 18 (Lake Carmel, Route 311) is blocking the shoulder and causing delays in Putnam County.
