Borgia, Halas Co-Chair Westchester Families Task Force

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Child Care Council Director Kathy Halas has agreed to co-chair Families Task Force with Westchester County Legislator Catherine Borgia, D-Ossining, co-chair of the Legislature’s Families Task Force.

Halas has significant experience in the nonprofit sector, including supportive housing, homeless services, Head Start, community mental health and home health care.

“I’m grateful to Kathy for her eagerness to take on the important work of identifying and addressing the issues and concerns facing Westchester families today. I really look forward to working with her on the task force,” said Borgia.

According to Borgia, the task force will be composed of legislators, department heads, educators, parents and members of the public.

“We invite anyone who is interested to participate. The task force’s impact will be strengthened if we are able to encourage significant input from the public. Whether people volunteer to be a member of the task force or even just take the time to complete a brief survey by clicking on the link below, the more people we have involved, the more successful we will be,” Borgia continued.

Borgia further noted that the task force plans to examine issues of significance and importance to all families in Westchester County  to create educational programs, foster collaboration and initiate legislative advocacy at the county, state and federal levels.

The first meeting of the Families Task Force will be Friday, April 11, at 8 a.m. in the Board of Legislators conference room, eighth floor, 148 Martine Ave., White Plains. A photo ID will be required for lobby security. Coffee and a light breakfast will be available starting at 8 a.m., and the meeting will begin at promptly at 8:30 a.m.
