Food Fight? Nope: Trump, Romney Meet At Restaurant With Pound Ridge Ties

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Donald Trump's and Mitt Romney's recent sit-down at a fancy French restaurant in Manhattan with Pound Ridge ties, may have some in the Republican Party eating their words, according to multiple media reports.

Chef Jean-George Vongerichten, owner of The Inn at Pound Ridge, also owns the Manhattan restaurant where President-elect Donald Trump dined with Mitt Romney and Reince Priebus.

The late-November supper summit took place at Jean Georges, a three-Michelin-star eatery, owned by Alsace-born Jean-Georges Vongerichten and located in Trump International Hotel & Tower on Central Park West.

Among Vongerichten’s dozens of upscale venues scattered all over the United States is the Inn at Pound Ridge, formerly known as Emily Shaw’s Inn.

Trump, the Bedford estate owner and soon-to-be leader of the free world, and Romney, his potential secretary of state nominee, had traded some nasty barbs during the 2016 campaign, and reports of opposition to Romney’s nomination from certain conservative factions of the GOP have been widespread, CNN reported this week.

Romney was the Republican Party's nominee for president in 2012.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus (Trump’s campaign adviser and pick for White House chief of staff) joined them at the table and the three appeared to be all smiles as they dined on appetizers of garlic soup, frog legs and scallops, CNN’s story said.

Trump and Priebus ordered steak for their entrées, while Romney ate crow, er, lamb chops; all three topped off the meal with chocolate cake, CNN reported.

According to multiple media reports, others said to be in the running for secretary of state are: former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Army Gen. David Petraeus, a Cornwall-on-Hudson native and West Point grad; and Bob Corker, a senator from Tennessee.

The Inn at Pound Ridge is housed in a renovated 1833 mansion on Westchester Avenue in the picturesque town and its menu focuses on seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine.

On Christmas Eve, diners can enjoy a three-course meal for a mere $88; on New Year’s Eve, $198 will buy them five courses, according to the restaurant’s website.
