Hillary Clinton Reportedly Improving At N.Y.C. Hospital

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is recovering at New York-Presbyterian Hospital after she was admitted Sunday because of a blood clot that her doctors found during a follow-up MRI, according to published reports.

Clinton, 65, was reportedly seen leaving the hospital at one point Wednesday afternoon but returned 15 minutes later, according to the New York Daily News. It was unclear whether she was actually discharged from the hospital.

Earlier in the day Wednesday, Clinton, a Chappaqua resident, was actively engaging in her work and speaking with her staff on the phone, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told the press corps at an off-camera briefing.

Clinton's doctors found the clot in a routine follow-up MRI following a concussion she sustained at home on Dec. 13 after she fainted. Doctors said Monday that the clot is between her skull and her brain behind her right ear.

Clinton is being treated with anticoagulants, and doctors said she will remain at the hospital until the correct dosage is determined. Doctors attribute her blood clot to the concussion, according to published reports.

Clinton has had to cancel scheduled appearances to testify before congressional panels looking into the Sept. 11 attack against the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya. She has not made any public appearances since Dec. 7.
