MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- The kidnapping of Nigerian girls by the group Boko Haram has received a lot of attention from news outlets in recent days.

Some Hudson Valley residents are joining in the criticism of the Nigerian government's response.

Cora Greenberg of Pleasantville felt that the response has been slow, although she was not sure if it was because they don't care or if it was due to lack of wherewithal.

Cameron Cushner, a Yorktown resident, has not been satisfied with the response. He also felt that when there is attention, there are people trying to fix the issue, as well as criticism of people originally responsible, referring to Nigeria's government.

Cushner also address the growing attention the issue has received.

“Once something goes public you're going to hear a lot about it.”

Marcia Clark, a Putnam Valley resident, wrote the following in response: "It is impossible for us to know exactly how the Nigerian government responded to the abduction of the girls or why they responded as slowly as they did. It is unfortunate that more aggressive action was not immediately taken. But now with the full weight and support of the global community we can hope that the Nigerian government will act to find the girls, secure the safety of all children against future acts of terrorism, and bring those responsible for this blatant act of terrorism to justice."
