The crash, involving a Jeep and tractor-trailer, led to the closure of the westbound lanes.

The operator of the Jeep, 63-year-old Queens resident Donovan S. Grant, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Initial investigation suggests a Jeep Liberty operated by Grant was traveling on the I-84 eastbound entrance ramp from I-684 northbound, state police said.

The Jeep Liberty, for unknown reasons, exited the entrance ramp, crossed the eastbound lanes, the center median, then entered westbound I-84 lanes and struck the tractor-trailer.

State Police were assisted on scene by EMStar Medical Transportation, the Village of Brewster Fire Department, the Putnam County Coroner’s Office, and New York State Department of Transportation.

Any witness or person with information regarding this crash is asked to please call State Police Troop K Headquarters at (845) 677-7300 and request to leave a message for Investigator Gould.
