EDGEMONT, N.Y. -- A private detective who is working on the missing person case involving Edgemont resident Lauren Spierer claims he is close to finally solving the years old mystery, according to multiple reports.
Former FBI cold case investigator Brad Garrett has been working with the family to get to the bottom of what happened to the 20-year-old when she disappeared in Bloomington, Indiana in 2011. Spierer was a student at Indiana University.
The developments in the case were chronicled Friday night on a special report by ABC-TV's "20/20," showcasing some of the theories of Garrett and his team including one tip that leads to an inmate at Indiana State Prison.
Corey Hamersley was arrested a year after Spierer's disappearance and in "20/20" reported that another inmate claims Hamersely told him that Spierer overdosed at a house party and students dumped her body in the Ohio River, according to News 12 Westchester.
