It's Pool Season Again, Mount Kisco

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.-- Summer is getting closer. One sign? Leonard Park's Memorial Pool opens for the pre-season at noon Saturday.

Pool Director Carolyn Johnson said the pool staff is doing everything from "soup to nuts" to get the pool ready for the season.

"We empty the pools, acid wash them down, fill them back up," she said. "This year, we have new filters so we should get even cleaner and brighter water."

Johnson said the staff also has to set and regulate the pool chemicals and scrub down the diving boards and tiles.

In terms of turnout this year, Johnson said she figures the pool, located off South Bedford Road, will get the regulars coming in every day and after that, how many more people will depend on how hot it gets.

"Based on our mild winter, it might be a little bit warmer," she said. "We figure we'll get more walk-ins."

Johnson said residents of Mount Kisco can pay a walk-in fee for the pool, which is $10 for a child, $14 for an adult and $9 for a senior citizen.

A season pass for youth costs $140, adults cost $215 and seniors cost $100, she said, and a family can buy a season pass for $425. Daily admission passes also are offered, which are sold at "pay-as-you-go" rates.

In order to sign up for a permit or renew an old permit, residents can come to the Recreation Office at Village Hall, 104 E. Main St. The office requires a current utility bill or a piece of mail that has been mailed to the resident's Mount Kisco address.

Residents should bring their old passes to sign up if they have them. Only cash or checks will be accepted.

The pool will be open this Memorial Day weekend from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday through Monday.

After that, the pool will be open for pre-season hours of 3-7 p.m. weekdays and noon to 7 p.m. weekends.

The pool will open for regular hours starting June 25: Noon to 8 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends. The full pool schedule can be found on the village's website
