Man Struck by Train in Mt. Kisco, in Critical Condition

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- MTA officials say it is unclear whether a 36-year-old man will survive after he was struck by a Metro-North train going northbound Sunday afternoon.

Officials say the man was leaning over the platform on the northbound side of the Mt. Kisco train station for an undetermined reason, when he was struck by the train at about 2:45 p.m.

He was transported to Westchester Medical Center in "very critical condition," and according to MTA spokesperson, Salvatore Arena, he suffered a traumatic head injury. Arena said the man was still alive, and breathing when he was transported to the hospital.

"It's not yet clear whether or not he will survive," Arena said. "At this point, we're just not sure."

Arena said the MTA police are investigating the incident, and have not yet released the man's name. The train, which was on its way to Southeast station as its final stop, remained at the Mt. Kisco station until a little after 4 p.m. Sunday.
