MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. — Mount Kisco Mayor Michael Cindrich announced that the village is debating the launch of a business improvement district (BID) in the area, according to The Examiner News.
The proposed district would likely be in parts of downtown, specifically on Main Street, South Moger Avenue and North Moger Avenue, The Examiner News said.
BIDs are certain areas of a community where additional taxes are levied, which are then plowed back into the area, reported The Examiner News.
Cindrich said that the idea of a district has support from local residents and merchants, especially as the amount of commercial vacancies downtown has grown, The Examiner News noted.
