Mount Kisco Declares Snow Emergency Because Of Storm

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Mount Kisco has declared a snow emergency that started at 3 p.m. Monday and will remain in effect until further notice.

In accordance with this declaration, the village establishes the following emergency parking and traffic rules and regulations and suspends promulgated rules and regulations:

  • No parking on any street or public roadway from 3 p.m. Monday until further notice. Violators will be ticketed or towed.
  • No person shall throw or deposit snow upon any plowed portion of any street or roadway. Homeowners are responsible for the actions of private contractors in their employ.

Free parking is available in all municipal parking lots during the snow emergency event.  Municipal parking lot locations: South Moger Avenue lot; North Moger Avenue lot (near Annie Sez); Blackeby parking lot (off of Green Street); Maple Avenue parking lot; Dakin Avenue parking lot; Village Centre lot (Shoppers Park); East Hyatt parking lot (corner of Main and E. Hyatt); Mount Kisco Senior Center (behind Mt. Kisco housing authority); Leonard Park near the basketball courts and Fox Senior Center located at 198 Carpenter Avenue. 

All vehicles must be removed from all lots by noon on Wednesday in order to facilitate safe removal of snow from these parking areas.  Recycling has been canceled this week. The normal collection scheduled will resume the week of February 2.  Garbage will be collected on Thursday and Friday provided there is a clear pathway to your garbage cans. If you do not shovel a path, your garbage will only be collected if it is brought curbside for collection. 

The village asks residents to clear snow from around fire hydrants. In addition, the Memorial Complex is closed on Monday and Tuesday and all programs have been canceled. 

Some general safety recommendations include:

  • Flat roofs: Should be cleared off safely to avoid excessive snow build up. 
  • Power outages: Should be reported to Con Edison directly at 1 800-75ConEd. In the event you have lost power and heat, the American Legion post at will be open to serve as a warming station. Residents can reach them at 914-241-0136.
