Mt. Kisco Chamber Of Commerce Names Judith Simon ‘Citizen Of The Year’

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Judith Simon, executive director of Mount Kisco's A&J Home Care, Inc. and founder of the Center for Creative Movement, has been named the 2013 Citizen of the Year by the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce (MKCC). Simon will be recognized on Wednesday, May 8 at the Chamber’s 46th Annual Dinner Dance at the Holiday Inn of Mount Kisco.

Simon serves the Mount Kisco community by serving on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce, the Library Foundation, the Zoning Board, and is the incoming President of the Mount Kisco Rotary Club.

Presently, Simon, along with her dance teacher Andrey Savenko of the Fred Astaire studio in Bedford Hills, are working on a long held dream that shows how ballroom dancing helps stop the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease and have received the support of the Alzheimer’s Association and the National Dance Council of America.

In addition to Simon, the Chamber of Commerce will honor the Mount Kisco Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Council as the 2013 Outstanding Non-Profit Organization of the Year. More than 150 business owners, professionals and civic-minded residents are expected to attend the Annual Dinner Dance.

The Council was specifically cited by the Chamber of Commerce for its accomplishments in three specific groundbreaking programs: establishing a "Drug Court" program, a Latino Providers Group, and an Emergency Shelter Partnership.

“Both Judith Simon and the Mount Kisco Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Council serve as  positive examples for action in our community,” said Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kathleen Mooney. “The Chamber is delighted to honor them for their outstanding volunteerism and community spirit.”

The celebration will commence with wine and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner and presentations starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $135.00 per person.
