WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- New York State residents may need a passport to board domestic flights as early as next year, according to the Huffington Post.

New York's driver's license fails to meet the provisions set forth in the Real ID act that goes into effect next year. Residents from Minnesota, Louisiana and New Hampshire are in the same boat, the Hufftington Post reported.

Securing a passport an cost $110, but in New York, there is a possible work-around. New York's enhanced driver's license, which allows passage into Canada and Mexico, is available for $30 more than a regular license.
