Nita Lowey Defeats Day In 17th Congressional District Race

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Incumbent Congresswoman Nita Lowey defeated Republican challenger Chris  Day in the race for New York's 17th Congressional District.

Lowey, the incumbent Democrat, has 56,709 votes while Republican challenger Day has 48,458 votes.

Lowey, a member of the Appropriations Committee, has served 13 terms and was first elected to Congress in 1988.

Day, a U.S. Army veteran, is the vice president of Selway Capital, a marketing investment firm that works with Israel-based companies. Day also served as manager for his father Ed Day’s campaign for Rockland county executive.

The 17th District covers Armonk, Briarcliff, Chappaqua, Cortlandt, Croton, Greenburgh, Harrison, Mount Kisco, Mount Pleasant, Ossining, Peekskill, Pleasantville, Port Chester, Valhalla, White Plains, Part of Scarsdale, Part of Yorktown and most of Rockland County.
