MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. — Northern Westchester Hospital joins a list of top hospitals in the United States as it is recognized for its services in the recently released 2012-13 U.S. News & World Report: Best Hospitals.

Northern Westchester Hospital was named a U.S. News & World Report "Best Hospital" regionally in three specialties: urology, gynecology and geriatrics.

It was also named a “Most Connected Hospital," which means that the Mount Kisco medical facility "met three challenging standards that put them in the vanguard of centers leading medicine into the era of electronic medical records," according to U.S. News & World Report.

These standards assess the hospital's use of electronic medical record systems for e-prescribing, exchanging medical records and supplying data to patients, and providing data for monitoring clinical quality.

“At Northern Westchester Hospital, our medical experts utilize leading edge technology to provide high-quality, patient centered care," Joel Seligman, president and CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital, said in a statement.

"Through an integrated, single plan of care, we are able to provide patients with the right care for their condition at the proper time, in a manner that is tailored to meet their needs," he said.

According to the report, Northern Westchester ranks as one of the top hospitals in New York based on factors such as patient survival rates and nurse staffing levels. Each hospital’s reputation, as determined by a survey of physician specialists, is also a factor in the assessment.

"We are proud to receive this recognition and continue to look for ways to improve every single day,” said Seligman.
