According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, homelessness increased by 6.7 percent over the past year. The statistics are based on a single night survey submitted by HUD in its Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress.

Total homelessness in Rockland County increased by 20.6 percent. Total homelessness in Westchester increased by 4.68 percent and in Dutchess, total homelessness increased by .8 percent.
