'Over 40 Females' Take Salon, Mt. Kisco by Storm

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. — Richard Scott Salon and Day Spa in Mount Kisco was inhabited by many women 40 years of age and older Wednesday night, all in hopes of networking with one another. Over 40 Females, a group founded and led by journalist Judy Goss, connects women around the country in hopes to improve their lives.

“It’s a national networking organization, catering to women over the age of 40. Our motto is, ‘Connect, encourage and inspire,’ and we do that with every one of our events,” said Phyllis Hirschauer, the Westchester County chapter director.

The organization, which was started by Goss, former editor of More Magazine, just two years ago, has chapters in Danbury, Fairfield, and New Haven, Conn., New York City, and Bucks County, Pa. The idea grew from Goss’ original location of New York City, and was encouraged to go nationwide by Mindy DiCrosta, the organization’s business developing agent.

“When I saw what she was doing here, and how it was resonating with women everywhere, I was so excited and still am to be part of that vision, and part of taking that vision nationwide,” DiCrosta said. “And that’s what we’re doing. And it’s chapters like this, and word of mouth, that allow that to happen.”

Jessica Lawrence, a psychic medium from White Plains, has come to the Westchester branch in the past.

“I love it because I wanted to get out and network and meet other people while doing business, and it opened up a whole other world,” Lawrence said. “Because of this, I met someone in a gym that’ll I’ll be working out of. We’re doing things for each other. It’s a really great group.”

Goss and company will be taking their services to Vero Beach, Fla. in the future, and they have held events as far away as Arizona. Goss said that wherever the organization goes, she feels the same feeling.

“Every event had been like this one. You can feel it. It’s magical,” Goss said. “It’s amazing, and we want to keep it going.”
