The play is called "a remarkable combination of theater, history lesson and conversation in which actor and author Roger Grunwald, a child of a Holocaust survivor, explores one of the most shocking aspects of the Jewish experience during the Second World War."

"The Mitzvah Project," co-authored by  Grunwald and Annie McGreevey, includes the story of Christoph Rosenberg, who is described as a "German half-Jew."

There is also another aspect to the story.

"The play reveals the surprising history of tens of thousands of German men known as "mischlings,"  -- a derogatory term the Nazis used to characterize those descended from one, two or three Jewish grandparents -- who served in Hitler's army."

The theater's announcement mentions that Grunwald's mother, an Auschwitz survivor, taught young people about history and using her experience during the war.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at the theater's website or by calling 914-277-8477.

The theater is located at 3 Owens Road.
