Search Continues For Permanent Mount Kisco Village Manager

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- The search for a permanent Mount Kisco village manager is still ongoing and there is no time table for when one will be appointed, Mayor Michael Cindrich recently told local reporters.

Gennaro Faiella has served as interim village manager since June 2014, when James Palmer resigned to take a similar position in Bronxville.

The pace of the search process has not slowed since Faiella's appointment, Cindrich explained.

One challenge for the village board is whether to select a candidate who does not live in the village. Currently, the mayor explained, there is a law requiring residency in the village in order to be eligible for the position.

Cindrich noted that the law could be repealed, which would require a public hearing. However, candidates who do not live in Mount Kisco may be considered if they do not live far away. In contrast, Cindrich did not express interest in hiring someone who does not at least live in close proximity to Mount Kisco.

The residency requirement only applies to permanent village managers, Cindrich explained. Faiella, who lives in Ossining, is exempt because he is only serving on an interim basis.
