MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Multiple social media communities are continuing the search for a rescued dog who has been missing since February.

Annabelle, a skittish black dog with white on her paws, has a history of abuse and mistreatment, according to officials with the rescue organization A New Chance.

Because of her history, she readily runs away if approached or when her name is called. Anyone who sees her is urged to make note of the location and direction of travel before reporting the sighting immediately to 917-207-6650.

Annabelle went missing on Feb. 6, but was last seen several days later near the village of Bedford .

Officials said she "may be traveling quite far," and asked that her story and image be shared widely via social media and other means.

Those close to Annabelle have expressed their gratitude as the search continues.

"Thank you so much for all you're doing to track and rescue this sweet girl," wrote Emily Grice Lumpkin , the South Carolina woman who originally rescued the dog, on Facebook. "I'm desperate to stay in touch with her movements and sightings and I'm in continued prayer for her safe and quick rescue."

As of Sunday morning, the latest post detailing the dog's story had been shared more than 630 times from the Facebook community, Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery .

Among those to share the post is the Lost PETS of Westchester County NY Facebook page , which spread the word to its followers on Saturday.

Again, anyone who spots Annabelle should not call for her, approach her or chase her. Sightings should be reported immediately to 917-207-6650.
