State Approves 7.1 Percent Health Insurance Rate Hike

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- New York state has approved health insurance rate increases for 2016 that will average 7.1 percent, according to an article in Capital Playbook.

The increases will affect insurers who participate in New York State of Health, the state health insurance exchange formed under the Affordable Care Act, Capital Playbook reported. 

The insurers originally requested an average 13.5 percent increase, according to Capital Playbook.
