WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. — Several inches of snow could fall Monday night, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a winter storm warning for northern Westchester County and a winter weather advisory for southern Westchester County.

The storm warning is in effect from 4 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Two to 6 inches of snow could be on the ground by Tuesday morning in northern Westchester. Southern and coastal Westchester will see 1 to 2 inches of snow in the same time period.

Snow should begin late Monday afternoon and mix with sleet and freezing rain overnight. Rain will fall during the day Tuesday and mix with snow before ending Tuesday evening, the National Weather Service said.

The storm may also bring a tenth- to a quarter-inch of ice to the area.

"The combination of an accumulation of ice on an accumulation of snow will make travel dangerous, especially during the Tuesday morning rush hour," the National Weather Service said.
